As a scientific illustrator for the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA), I am finally realizing a decade-old a dream to create intentional, purposeful and well-designed K-8 educational materials. My personal goals are to pack every one of these products with as much science information as is humanly possible, while making it accessible to as broad an audience as possible.
Along with NSF's unwavering commitment to STEM education, another tenet of NSF's mission is to showcase the diversity of the people who are doing great science all over the world. This undoubtedly encourages young budding scientists of all races, when they "see themselves" pursuing these professional paths.
